WORK IN PROGRESS – wood is still drying
The project features two unique chairs made from raw wood sourced from sawmill waste — including bark-covered planks and beams that were originally intended for firewood. Instead of being discarded, this material was preserved and repurposed.
The inspiration behind the project was the natural form of wood. Each chair is built from one unevenly cut plank (with bark left on one side) and five hand-cleaned beams found among discarded pieces. The structure is assembled using nails and based on a tripod design — one leg extends into the backrest, while the other two support the seat from the front.
The resulting form combines simplicity with the beauty of raw, natural material and highlights the value of imperfection.
The chair’s form highlights the nobility of raw wood and its natural variations in structure (bark on the outside, wood on the inside). The ascetic shape, combined with the natural embellishment of bark, enhances the contrast between the textures, intensifying the tactile and visual experience
