The inspiration for the project comes from the process of ceramic firing, where high temperatures affect vessels. The project focuses on a return to roots through manual casting of vessels and collaboration with fire in the decoration process, where temperature determines the final color.
The unpredictability throughout the process is interesting, from the initial delicate handling of the material to when any disruption in structure during the final firing. It's a lesson in patience and learning through trials and errors. The work started with paint trials on the initial casts, determining their properties and potential under the influence of fire.
Tools used in the project: Adobe Illustrator, plaster molds, underglaze paint, transparent glaze, and a ceramic kiln.
